Meet Sage! This lovely girl is an older kitten, close to a year old, with a gentle soul and a cautious heart. She’s shy and will do best with someone who understands that trust takes time—and is willing to let her set the pace. She enjoys quiet playtime with string toys and small stuffed toys. You’ll often find her nearby, sharing the same space once she feels safe. While she wants to be close, she is very afraid of strangers approaching her and isn’t comfortable being picked up right away. Interestingly, once she is picked up, she will relax and settle into your lap, showing a glimpse of the sweet, loving cat she’s becoming. She is cautious around dogs but not bothered by their presence, making her a good candidate for a calm, respectful dog who understands boundaries. She does well with another older foster kitten and will happily play and interact once she feels comfortable. Having a confident but gentle cat companion may even help her continue to build confidence. This girl has the potential to be a truly affectionate companion, but she needs a calm home, a patient adopter, and someone who understands that love with her is built slowly and gently. With time, space, and kindness, she will blossom into a deeply rewarding companion.
